The Doctor of Intercultural Studies (Missiology) (DICS) is the most advanced degree for those actively involved in evangelism and world mission ministries of local churches and mission organizations. This program is designed to provide qualified students with a high level of foundational basis and professional training in the practice of evangelism and world mission.
Having successfully completed the DICS (DMiss) degree program, students will have demonstrated:
- a reinvigorated and deepened vocational calling to ministry in a cross-cultural or intercultural context;
- an ability to critically assess and (re)construct biblical, theological, and missiological goals of Christian mission, and apply their knowledge and principles appropriately in their chosen cross-cultural or intercultural ministry settings;
- a deepened intercultural understanding and sensitivity to communicate with people with different cultures and worldviews, and mentor and equip them for an intercultural ministry in their own life and ministry settings;
- enhanced ministerial skills to effectively perform the assigned duties and responsibilities based on a solid biblical and theological foundation of Christian mission and thorough research (e.g., teaching, leadership, counseling, communication, and supervision);
- an advanced interdisciplinary research capability to integrate intercultural or cross-cultural theories with theological disciplines and other social sciences such as anthropology in a doctoral dissertation.
